Industry Update: New Trucks, Workplace Recognition & Global Expansion

Bournes Moves has invested in three new DAF XD trucks.

The U.K. company say they hope the design will strengthen European services, trade partnerships, and provide even greater flexibility for moves and logistics between the UK and mainland Europe.

The company said that the trucks have been specifically selected to support the changing needs of UK–EU removals post-Brexit providing a middle ground bridging the gap between traditional drawbar trailers and smaller vans.

The truck adhered to London’s four-star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) regulations and has an air-ride suspension with crews benefiting from built-in microwaves, fridges, upgraded bedding and additional cab storage for a crew of two people to rest in comfort.

The company has many vehicles operating between the UK and France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and can provide services across mainland Europe on request.

John Mason International Named One of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women

John Mason International Movers has been voted one of the best workplaces for women in the country by Great Places to Work. The Liverpool-based company, founded by Mary Mason in 1884, earned the reward due to its “tireless commitment to create equal opportunities and tackling inequality in the workplace.”

The extensive list includes other companies that are committed to ensuring a reasonable balance of women and men across the organisation; removing barriers to women’s career advancement; and creating workplaces where all employees, regardless of gender, can flourish.

Rebekah Hood, co-owner of John Mason International, said that Mary Mason’s commitment to equal opportunity and tireless dedication within the industry earned the company the award: “Mary Mason and her vision to create a company that provided equal opportunities for all, and which could be trusted by staff and customers alike is still a driving force we maintain today.

“That’s why achieving a spot on the UK’s best workplaces for women and being recognised in this way really matters to all of our staff. We don’t just want to create a culture which professes to be equal but one that lives it through our actions every single day.”

Beck Clamp, Manager at John Mason International, said that the award will be leveraged by the company to continue serving clients: "We've always championed our workplace culture at John Mason International, the support, opportunities, and openness of the company top to bottom is something my colleagues and I really value.

“Now being able to point to this accreditation as proof of who we are really strikes a chord with me, it makes me excited for everything coming down the track."
